Dosage Calculation Exam Policy and Procedure

This policy will apply to the following courses: NURS 3260U, 3350U, 3360U, 4150U, 4160U, NURS 4250U, NURS 4300U, NURS 3350A, NURS 4935A, 3360A, NURS 4160A, NURS 4945A, NURS 4910A, NURS 3260W, 4150W, NURS 4250W, NURS 3360W, NURS 3350W, NURS 4160W, NURS 4300W

  1.        All available ATI Dosage Calculation modules, case studies, and practice

assessments will be assigned in the designated course. The content will be introduced or reinforced by the course leader or designated instructor. The modules should remain open for continuous practice and review.

For NURS 4150U, 4150W, 4250U, 4250W, 4945A, 4910A:

  1. The course leader will provide a dosage calculation refresher followed by the

practice exam in clinical orientation.

  1. The learner will be assigned the course associated practice exam as a

formative assessment. The practice exams should not be included in the exam average of the course.

  1. Meeting benchmark on proctored (Fundamentals, Adult Medical Surgical)

dosage calculation exams is a clinical requirement. 

  1. In courses where meeting benchmark is a clinical requirement, the learner

must achieve 85% on the practice exam before being allowed to take the proctored exam. 

  1. Proctored dosage calculation exams will be administered within the first two

weeks of the term start.

  1. Students will have 2 attempts to meet the following proctored exam

benchmarks:

  1. Fundamentals-85%
  1. Adult Medical Surgical-90%
  1. Students may not pass medications in clinical areas until benchmark is met.
  1. Targeted remediation is required for all students not achieving benchmark

on the first attempt. The student must demonstrate competency before being allowed to take the second attempt.

  1. Students who do not achieve benchmark by the second attempt will be withdrawn

from the course.
