Rules for Using College Tech
Use Goldfarb tech ethically, legally, and for your education.
- Okay to Use For: Schoolwork, research, official communication with the college/faculty, accessing learning resources.
- Absolutely NOT Allowed:
- Illegal Stuff: Breaking laws (like copyright infringement - don't pirate software or movies!), hacking, unauthorized access.
- Harmful Content: Sending, storing, or viewing harassing, threatening, discriminatory, obscene, or defamatory material.
- Bullying/Stalking: No cyberbullying or cyberstalking.
- Spam/Scams: Don't send spam or try to trick people into giving up info (phishing).
- Faking Identity: Don't pretend to be someone else online ("spoofing").
- Security Risks: Trying to break security systems, spreading viruses or malware.
- Personal Business: Using resources for your own company, excessive personal stuff, or political campaigning.
- Disrupting Others: Hogging network resources, interfering with system performance.
- Breaking Privacy Rules: Violating the BJC Confidentiality Agreement or HIPAA.
- Anything Else That Disrupts Learning or breaks other College rules.
What Happens if You Break the Rules?
Breaking these technology rules can lead to disciplinary action. Depending on how serious it is, this could range from a warning or losing tech privileges to suspension or even dismissal from Goldfarb. If you do something illegal, we will report it to the police
