Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) School Nurse
The MSN School Nurse Program is an online program designed to prepare licensed registered nurses to meet the diverse health needs of K-12 students.
This program equips licensed registered nurses with advanced skills for the specialty practice of school nursing. Students will learn to address the complex health needs of students within a school community. The curriculum includes topics such as health assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology relevant to school populations and managing school health programs, evidence-based practice, public policy, ethics, and grant writing for resource development.
The program is offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online learning. Students will complete a total of 500 hours of direct and indirect clinical experiences. The practicum in school nursing is conducted in person at a school district chosen by the student and approved by the course faculty.
This program prepares nurses for the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.
Admission Requirements:
- BSN from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale in all undergraduate coursework
- Unencumbered/Unrestricted active RN Missouri License or a license from a compact state
- Current CV or Resume
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
