NURS 4150U Adult Health Nursing I

Course content focuses on application of the nursing process to the care of the adult patient experiencing medical-surgical conditions along the health-illness continuum in a variety of health care settings. Emphasis is on developing professional behaviors, communication, and competence in providing and coordinating nursing care for diverse patient populations. Topics covered include those related to acute/chronic respiratory, endocrinology, gastrointestinal, hematological, and cardiovascular disorders. Use of evidence-based practice is integrated into the learning modules to provide the student with current trends and implementation of nursing skills. Medical-surgical clinical settings provide opportunity for students to apply their learning to clients as part of an interdisciplinary team. The simulation laboratory experiences, designed to reinforce theory, facilitate the development of clinical reasoning skills.
