Post-Master's Nurse Educator Certificate Program

Goldfarb offers a post-master’s certificate for Nurse Educator for masters- and doctoral-prepared nurses who want to improve their or for those who would like to begin their teaching careers. The Nurse Educator Program prepares students to expand upon roles in a variety of settings by integrating prior learning with advanced discipline-specific coursework and clinical experiences. Students become skilled educators with competencies in patient education, staff development and academic education.

Graduates will be prepared to take the National League for Nursing (NLN) Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) exam and/or the Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE-Cl®) upon completion of requisite experience. The Nurse Educator role is recognized by NLN as a specialty area of practice.  

Post MSN graduates who have already completed advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and advanced heath assessment are eligible to transfer up to 9 credits. 

• Program Length: 24 months/six (6) terms

Time Limitation

 The maximum amount of time allowed for completion of a master's degree is five calendar years after the student first enrolls in a graduate course at Barnes-Jewish College. Certificate program students must complete all course work within three years of enrollment.

Official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned (Please list ALL colleges on the online application.)

Current, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the United States

Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume

Barnes-Jewish College recommends that international applicants take the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) or IELTS. The score requirement for the IBT is 85, with minimum scores of 21 for reading and 23 for writing. The score requirement for the computer-based test is 240, with a minimum score of 4.5 on the Test of Written English. The score requirement for the paper-based test is 575.

Additional credentials may also be requested after an initial review of the applicant’s file.
