Dosage Calculation Exam Policy and Procedure

The following statement will apply to: NURS 3260U, 3350U, 3360U, 4150U, 4160U, NURS 4250U, NURS 4300U, NURS 3350A, NURS 4935A, 3360A, NURS 4160A, NURS 4945A, NURS 4910A, NURS 3260W, 4150W, NURS 4250W, NURS 3360W, NURS 3350W, NURS 4160W, NURS 4300W.

  • All available ATI Dosage Calculation modules, case studies, and practice assessments will be assigned in the designated course. The content will be introduced or reinforced by the course leader or designated instructor. The modules should remain open for continuous practice and review.

 

The following statements apply to ONLY courses: NURS 4150U, 4150W, 4250U, 4250W, 4945A, 4910A:

  1. The course faculty will provide a dosage calculation refresher followed by the practice exam in clinical orientation.
  2. The student will be assigned the appropriate practice exam for the course as a formative assessment. Practice exams should not be included in the exam average of the course.
  3. Students enrolled in Fundamentals (NURS 4935A), Adult Health I (4150U, 4150W, 4945A) and Adult Health II (4250U, 4250W, 4910A) : 
    1. Must meet the established benchmark on proctored dosage calculation exams in Fundamentals and Adult Health I.
    2. Must achieve a score of 85% or higher on the practice exam before being permitted to take the proctored exam.
    3. Will have 2 attempts to meet the following established benchmarks:
      1. Fundamentals-85% or higher
      2. Adult Health I-90% of higher
  4. Proctored Dosage Calculation Exams will be administered within the first two weeks of the term start.
  5. Students may not pass medications in clinical areas until they have met the established benchmark on the proctored Dosage Calculation Exam.
  6. Targeted remediation is required for all students who do not meet the established benchmark on their first attempt. The student must demonstrate competency before being allowed to take the second attempt.
  7. Students who do not achieve benchmark on the second attempt will be withdrawn from the course.
