Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Health Systems and Population Health Leadership Concentration

Health Systems and Population Health Leadership Concentration

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College offers the BSN to DNP in Health Systems and Population Health Leadership concentration for BSN-prepared registered nurses interested in pursuing executive healthcare administrative leadership positions in health systems and population health settings. Within the curriculum, students acquire a certificate in operational excellence from McKelvey School of Engineering, Washington University.

The Health Systems and Population Health Leadership concentration prepares health system leaders with the capacity to synthesize business and economics, clinical practice model, population health, evidence-based decision science, and leadership abilities to assume roles in acute care, community and public health, ambulatory, and other continuum-spanning organizations. These positions can be management, executive or academic.

The Health Systems and Population Health Leadership concentration nursing leadership courses develop the student to acquire the skills to become a strategic leader. Through the operational excellence courses students will learn how to design, lead, and manage continuous improvement initiatives that support efficiency, safety, quality, and patient experience in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.

Course work may be pursued on a part- or full-time basis; the majority of the curriculum will be conducted online. Graduates of the Health Systems and Population Health Leadership concentration will be ready to pursue positions in executive leadership in health systems and in community settings.
