NURS 3370A Gerontological Nursing
Provides students with necessary competencies to care for the older adult, using the process of aging as a framework. Based upon the NLN Caring for Older Adult Vision and the ANA Gerontological Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, students learn to address the unique physiological, social, psychological, developmental, economic, cultural, spiritual, and advocacy needs of older adults and their significant others. Strategies to prevent illness and injury, facilitate health promotion and healing, and alleviate suffering through diagnosis and management of chronic disease, end-of-life, and palliative care will be highlighted.
