Post-Master’s Certificate Program Family Nurse Practitioner
Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) post-master's certificate program prepares students to educationally and clinically provide care for primary care in the community to patients across the lifespan.
The Family Nurse Practitioner Program concentration offers a post-master's certificate for MSN-prepared registered nurses interested in specializing in primary care management for families across the lifespan. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the FNP certification exam.
The FNP program focuses on skills and competencies required to provide primary care in the community to patients across the lifespan. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the FNP certification exam to become leaders in practice innovation, develop plans for comprehensive care management that address the multi-dimensional needs of patients and families, and advance health quality improvement. Coursework is designed to provide the student with skills to understand the complexities of the health care delivery system to influence change and develop policy that improves patient outcomes in a variety of settings.
Admission Requirements:
MSN from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale in all undergraduate coursework
Active RN license in good standing, Current CV or resume
Official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned
Two letters of reference from individuals who can address the applicant’s academic and clinical potential
Personal statement that addresses desired area of specialization, personal attributes, program and career goals

Transfer Credit and Gap Analysis: Students seeking transfer credit or who currently hold a different APRN certification should submit course syllabi to the Program Director to conduct a gap analysis to ensure all content is covered for certification exam without repetition of content from prior coursework.
